Former Interior CS Joseph Ole Lenku has questioned his predecessor Joseph Nkaissery's involvement in Kajiado politics ahead of the 2017 general election.
Lenku, who is eying the
governor seat, said the Cabinet Secretary has openly supported Tarayia ole
Kores.
Kores, Lenku, Daniel Nina and
George Gathogo - who are all Jubilee candidates - will vie for the seat held by
David Nkedianye (ODM) in the poll set for August.
“We saw him attend the
graduation of one of us at Mount Kenya University and the following day he was
feasting with the same candidate at his rural home. What is he portraying? Is
this not politics of division?” he asked.
Lenku spoke to the Star after
a fundraiser for Kajiado’s chapter of Maendeleo ya Wanawake in Bissil town on
Sunday.
Oloosirkon/Sholinke MCA
Daniel Kanchori, who was with him, claimed the CS is set on dividing the
region’s Maasai by favoring others for particular political positions.
Others who accompanied Lenku
included Matapato North MCA Lesalaon Seki, politicianPatrick Tutui and Jane
Saruni of Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization.
Nkaissery denied the claims
saying he has a right, as a senior citizen, to move freely in the region and
meet friends and age mates.
"I attended the party as
a Kajiado resident, not in my capacity as Cabinet Secretary. Those who are
feeling irritated should not blame me," he said.
During Kores' homecoming party at Iloodokilani on July 16, Nkaissery said he would support the person who wins the party nomination.
“We in Jubilee will support
whoever emerges the winner in the nomination. We will provide all the available
resources and ensure we win the seat for the party,” he said.
