NKAISSERY WARNS AGAINST ‘TRIBALIST’ GOVERNOR CANDIDATE

Interior Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Nkaissery, has warned Kajiado residents to shun a governor candidate who, he said, masquerades around the county claiming he has the blessing of the ruling party.
Nkaissery made the remarks without giving name(s) while addressing thousands of people during a homecoming of Kenya Meat Commission chairman Tarayia ole Kores in his Iloodokilani home in Kajiado West constituency recently.
Kores graduated from Mount Kenya University College in Thika with a degree after he was hounded out of the gubernatorial race in the 2013 general election by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) because he lacked credible credentials.
The CS said; “There is a politician people I do not want in this county going around and claiming he is in the Jubilee Party, and has the blessing of the leadership to vie for governor position.”
“He is using tribalism to divide the Kajiado Maasai and attempt to lock out others from ascending to leadership positions. We know him very well and we are monitoring that person because we do not want trouble in Kajiado,” said Nkaissery.
He said he only recognizes three individuals who can deliver the governor seat for the ruling party in the 2017 general election as; Kores, Daniel Nina and George Gathogo if they can sit down and nominate one candidate.
Former Interior CS, Joseph ole Lenku, although he was not mentioned by Nkaissery, has been moving around and has been reported in the local media, as having said Nkaissery is painting him black.
Lenku has declared he will vie for the Kajiado gubernatorial seat in 2017 on a Jubilee Party ticket but Kores, Nina and Gathogo distanced themselves from him and decided to campaign as a team for the ruling party.
Nkaissery said, amid jubilation, in Iloodokilani he is seeing leadership in Kores and those he is campaigning together with and added that the ruling party will finance a preferred candidate to the ballot box once the three have decided who the flag bearer will be.
Speaking during the occasion, Kores said Kajiado County has never been the same again after the 2013 general election after lives were lost in Imbirrikani and Kitengela markets clashes because of poor leadership.
Kores claimed, sensationally, a certain Kajiado leader, who he did not also name, is targeting the removal of two non-Maasai tribes (Kikuyu and Kisii) from the county ahead of next year’s polls.
“All Kenyans are free to live and own property in Kajiado. They did not take with force the property they own but they bought it. We will continue to condemn him because as leaders, we cannot purport to unite the people and yet turn around and divide them behind the scenes,” claimed Kores.
The occasion was attended by other elected and nominated leaders led by Senator Peter Mositet, MPs Joseph Manje and Moses Sakuda.
MPs Peris Tobiko, who is aligned to Governor David Nkedianye, and Mary Seneta, who has found a new friendship with Lenku, did not attend the occasion.
